Changelog / 0.2.3
0.2.3
Released 2026-08-21. 1 entry.
Changed: on Linux, the update installs itself - in a session you watch (ADR 0012)
"Install" used to end at a file manager opening on a folder with a tarball in it, which is where the first person to try it reasonably asked what a terminal was doing showing them a folder. When the running binary is ours to replace (its directory is writable and lives under $HOME), Install now opens a fresh session named for the version and executes the install there: the exact tar command scrolls by in a pane, the closing line says what remains, and the session's scrollback is the install log. Nothing happens off-screen. A binary that is not ours (a distro package, an admin install) keeps the hands-off behaviour, because there "don't touch" is still the only honest answer. The artifact is SHA-256-verified against the signed manifest before any of this, as before.
